Incubation Lifecycle

  • Without vision people perish - and that’s never a good time! Life begins when we can imagine a flourishing future, and we’ve found that’s deeply linked to time spent with the ultimate Visionary (pray, pray, pray) and spurring each other on to think outside the box.

  • So many dreams die because of a lack of supportive connection. One is, afterall, the loneliest number! Our dreams come alive when we find people who will create sacred space to dream together. So we make friends with people wanting this too.

  • Nice, neat theories are lovely to listen to. But they often don’t work because they haven’t been tried. We believe experimentation is the ultimate way to explore possibilities. And TRYING THINGS is often the best way to learn.

  • In this step, developing our ideas into plans, finding and building sustainable funding models, and crafting all kinds of systems and structures that help… these are a few of our favourite things. :-) We’ve found that there are many good people who are smarter and more experienced than us that want to help - so, to us, development means creating relationships. People are the key to developing successful pilots.

  • We don’t just Incubate new risky initiatives, we keep exploring. We think curiosity is one of our best tools. Far from ‘arriving,’ we are continuing to discover. Adaptability is our superpower.

  • Release, empower and mobilize. Taking BIG steps out into a great big sea is terrifying, but what’s the alternative? Safety? Comfort? Nope. We have set our hearts on sailing into the unknown. And because this is the riskiest of stages, it takes us back to the beginning… pray..pray…pray… we are never doing this work alone. Selah.

We believe that our celebrations and launch is the way that unlocks the lifecycle of new things in a deeper way… is the vision/revelation clear? Are there other ways of connecting and collaborating, what might that look like etc.. the lifecycle keeps repeating to ensure we are growing and adapting and thriving in our growth. Ideally, eventually the initiative begins to start the life cycle with another initiative that begins the cycle afresh… every living thing grows and gives life to other living things. That’s our lifecycle aim.

Phases of the incubation lifecycle

Phase 1
Experiment

We’re assessing fit with the entrepreneur, setting a clear starter vision,  hypothesizing a ‘test drive’ project we can experiment with & clarifying funding needs and available resources.

Phase 2
Development

We’re drafting up 2-3 other starter projects, a longer-term budget and launch sketch, identifying potential financial engines, partnering with the entrepreneur as they bring a small team around the idea, and discovering their development needs in start-up skills.

Phase 3
Launch

Sees the entrepreneur widen their team to match the prioritized projects and begin to design branding, a website, creating social media presence, empowering the team with areas of responsibility, pursuing investors and setting up all the support systems for sustainability.
